8 – Ans: A. The graph starts as a parabola since it is initially a graph of s = ½gt2 until air resistance reduces the acceleration to zero (terminal velocity is reached).

9 - Ans: D. {Detailed explanations for this question is available as Solution 845 at Physics 9702 Doubts | Help Page 168 - http://physics-ref.blogspot.com/2015/06/physics-9702-doubts-help-page-168.html}

10 – Ans: B. Since F is proportional to a (with no negative sign), they should be in the same direction. As for the velocity, it is possible that, for example, initially, velocity v is negative, and then it undergoes a positive acceleration. So, velocity does not necessarily need to be in the same direction.

16 – Ans: C. Taking moments about X gives: Clockwise moment = Anticlockwise moment: 10 × ½l = F cos 60° × l (or l x Fsin30o) giving F = 5 / (cos 60°) = 10N

17 – Ans: C. Tension in the elastic is along XY and XZ (4N on each side). Angle XY makes with horizontal, θ = cos-1(30/50). Force = 2(4cosθ) = 2(4x3/5) = 4.8N

26 – Ans: B. The x-axis represents time. So, the period is represented by the (horizontal – along x-axis) separation XY. The y-axis represents displacement. Note that amplitude is the maximum displacement and the term ‘amplitude’ can only be used to represents to peak values of displacement.

    1. This is not a POINT object. So, taking only the resultant force to be zero will not mean that equilibrium has been reached since the forces do NOT act on the SAME point. In this case, we need to find F such that the resultant TORQUE is zero. That is, there is no turning effect on the rod.

  14. I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out with Q.21 in M/J 2011, variant 12. I can't wrap my head around all the ratios. BTW, awesome job with the site. Just one suggestion. You should put all the Physics doubt page links on a separate page so if someone just wants to skim through the questions, they can do so. Keep up the good work :)

      Yeah, I planned to do it but had too many other things to do- it's gonna be page 0.

      Thanks for the suggestion. I've been hoping for suggestions from those who use the site for a long time but did not receive much.

      I also want to improve it.

    Will you please upload the missing variants of MCQs and Theory as earlier as possible like May June 2011 Paper 1 MCQs/ 11 ,
    then Oct Nov 2010 paper 1 MCQs/11
    and i will tell you which other are missing.
    The best thing which I have found on these solutions is detailed explanation.
