12 – Ans: D. Subtraction of vectors always requires care to be taken. Q is being subtracted, so the opposite direction should be taken and inserted close to the head of P. The resultant vector starts from the tail of P and ends at the head of the Q (which is drawn in the opposite direction). (It often produces surprising results, as with acceleration of body travelling in circular path.)

Clockwise moment = anticlockwise moment at X. Trailer causes a force at point X. However, the opposite force exerted by the cab is on the whole trailer which is 20m long. … Consider moment about point of contact (i.e, back wheel). So, F x 20m = 30kN x 10m. F = 15kN.

      at t = 18s, phase difference = 180o. Phase diff of 360o corresponds to a cycle. For 1/8 of cycle, phase diff = 360/8 = 45o. Phase diff of 180o is at t = 18s. So, phase diff of 45o is at t = (18/180)x45 = 4.5s.

  3. 35 - Ans: A. internal resistance, r = 2Ω. Load resistor, R varies from 0.5 Ω to 4 Ω. V = I^2 V. P = I^2 R. V = I(R+r). So, I = V/(R+r). P = [V/(R+r)]^2 R. Consider (r,P). (0.5,11.52), (1,16), (2,18), (3,17.28), (4,16)

21 – Ans: C. 1 incorrect since extension of Q is twice that of P for same stress.

  10. in q6 in paper 11/w12 why is the answer C and not B?the % uncertainty decreases with an increase in the value of the quantity to be measured, right?

    ReplyDelete
  11. sorry, it's q6 in w12 paper 11, should not the answer be B as actual uncertainty is a constant value unless the measuring device is changed and % uncertainty decreases with an increase in the value of the measured quantity, right?
